Before I introduce our team, I’d like to highlight the culture that we are building at Parcl. Because while we are a growing team, the culture is our foundation — the byproduct of each team member. The Web3 space has some unique cultural dynamics (often front end loaded incentives, decentralization, etc), and, in our view, it’s important to be mission-driven and establish the optimal culture in order to drive long-term impact.
Parcl’s Culture
We are working on a massive opportunity. To achieve our mission, we must establish a culture of constant growth that maximizes the potential of each team member, generating the collective momentum necessary to rise to this timely occasion.
To create this culture, we effectuate several core tenets:
1) Find people who believe in our mission — to Deliver Real Estate to Everyone
2) Establish ambitious goals and work collaboratively to achieve them
3) Create trust through autonomy and personal accountability
4) Encourage risk-taking; “failure” is just experiential learning
5) Instill open and transparent communication — the bedrock of team cohesion
6) Advocate for inclusivity and equality; we believe organizations that are fluid and nimble are the most successful
To that end, we aim to nurture two flywheels that are interrelated. First, we are seeking great people; empathetic, low-ego, collaborative, inclusive, mission-driven, and willing to tackle difficult challenges. If we continue to attract great people, we will foster our great culture and develop a great platform.
Second, we start to spin the execution flywheel. Some of our ethos is derived from Ray Dalio’s Principles, in which he outlines an optimal flywheel. In short, find great people (who are driven by tackling huge challenges) -> set big goals -> execute & work tirelessly to achieve these goals -> success -> setbacks & calibrate -> learn -> set higher goals. It’s about finding growth in ourselves and each other, where it is never a culture of competition but a culture of collaboration, an energy that drives us forward together. Cultures that are founded on a growth mindset attract more great people, which is fuel for the flywheel. Parcl’s flywheel is firmly intact, and it’s our mission to maintain that momentum!
The Parcl Team
Our team currently consists of 14 talented people (with 2 more on the way) who collectively possess extremely diverse experience and expertise ranging from Wall Street to Big Tech to Ph.D. level research. Companies our team members have worked for include: Microsoft, Millennium, Pudgy Penguins, NetJets, Nomura, Data Robot, Billion Dollar Boy, Afito, Lazard, and Capital One.
Additionally, later this month, we are bringing on a Chief People and Culture Officer who has led teams within both start-up and Fortune 500 environments. She has a Masters in Human Capital Management and is an Adjunct Professor at a top US University.
Trevor Bacon // Founder & CEO
Before Parcl, Trevor was a portfolio manager at several hedge funds focused on the technology sector — specifically software, payments (where he was introduced to blockchain 5 years ago), and internet. Before moving into investments, he was a VP at Barclays. His career started at Lazard.
Kellan Grenier // Co-Founder, COO & Head of Strategy
Kellan brings a plethora of experience, including eight years as an investment analyst in TradFi and most recently working at a Long/Short TMT-focused Hedge Fund. He also worked at a global investment bank.
On top of that, he has been involved in the crypto & blockchain space for over five years, analyzing and investing in various tokens & Web3 projects. In his spare time, he enjoys lounging on the beach and playing as many pickup basketball games as he can get his friends to agree to.
Stephen Robinson PhD // Co-Founder & CTO
Stephen comes from an experienced background building and guiding successful technology teams across both Web2 & Web3 projects. He is a results-oriented, hands-on engineer who is on a mission to upgrade the world through blockchain technology. He is a former Yale researcher and winner of the Y50K Yale business plan competition, which is no small feat.
Jason Lewris // Co-Founder & Chief Data Officer
Before joining Parcl, Jason was a Senior Data Scientist at Microsoft specializing in neural network architectures for NLP tasks and has presented work at several Microsoft machine learning and data science conferences.
Before Microsoft, Jason was a Data Scientist/NLP specialist at Deloitte, having developed RegExplorer by consuming federal, state, and global regulatory information and then applying a custom ML to enable cross source indexing at scale.
Outside of Parcl, Jason enjoys cycling, playing the piano, and continuing to learn about the innovations happening in AI/Web3 technologies.
David Josephs // Lead Blockchain Engineer
David originally studied Finance at Emory University and then pivoted to work in the film industry for a few years after graduating. He later learned how to code and has since led blockchain engineering projects for clients across the globe.
When he’s not coding away for Parcl, he spends his time binge-watching Marvel Universe movies. He also wanted to add his record against the rust compiler is 0–1e9.
Will Leatherman // Marketing Director
Will is our Director of Marketing, originally from Boston, MA. Will studied at the Savannah College of Art & Design and later left for NYC to work as a creative strategist.
He’s since worked with an impressive list of brands, including Pepsi, Grand Marnier, BMW, American Eagle, and multiple Estee Lauder brands during his time at Billion Dollar Boy — building organic and paid digital strategies as an Associate Creative Director.
Tom Bonanni // Lead Front End Engineer
Tom developed the UI/UX and SDK for Parcl’s React dApp and has a passion for researching new technologies and developing decentralized products. Tom is a full-stack engineer, designer, and was a co-founder of Afito, a college-housing rental platform.
Jesus Leal Trujillo // Principal Data Scientist
Before joining Parcl, Jesus was a data scientist at DataRobot and Deloitte, where he developed models to help customers across a wide variety of industries and developed new applications using state-of-the-art machine learning.
He also has a background in research, having authored more than a dozen research papers in topics ranging from the evolution of blockchain technology to a first of its kind typology of metropolitan areas when he was an Associate Fellow at the Brookings Institution.
Jesus is passionate about data science, but he also enjoys biking and photography. He currently lives in DC but has lived across different countries and continents.
Zhibin Dai // Data Engineer
Zhibin comes to Parcl from Capital One, where he was a data engineer on a customer-facing application called Credit Wise, which services ~45 million users. Zhibin will be focused on Parcl Physical Real Estate and helping shape the foundation of Parcl’s data engineering practices/culture.
Zhibin has already contributed to how we are forming a data engineering foundation that prioritizes data quality, efficiency and accelerates our ability to innovate.
Sam Sherman // In-House Counsel
Before joining Parcl, Sam had consulted for fortune 500 companies, supporting their investor relations and corporate governance best practices.
He’s also served on the board of the Real Property Law Society during his time in Law school and is currently working towards obtaining his real estate broker’s license.
Sam has been drawn to the law around blockchain technology for several years, having made it a focus of his law school curriculum.
Jeffrey Garcia // Community Manager
Jeffrey has been in the crypto/blockchain space since 2017 and is currently helping us grow our community as our Community Manager. Jeffrey is also a graduate of Binghamton University.
Prior to joining Parcl, Jeffrey helped projects like Komodo, Isotile, and Pudgy Penguins grow their communities. When he’s not building cool Web3 communities, he enjoys playing soccer and is an avid breakdancer.
Conor Pritchard // Content Marketer
Conor brings experience from the world of journalism and digital media. He has worked with websites, radio shows, soccer clubs, and newspapers across the UK and US, creating content and managing their social media accounts.
His interest in cryptocurrency and blockchain blossomed in 2017; he’s also a founding member of The Cryptograph, a crypto/blockchain news site. Conor is based in Scotland, enjoys hiking, and his most ambitious goal in life is to help provide access to clean drinking water to everyone across the world.
Jack Brighton // Graphic Designer
Jack is a member of our graphic design team, with his focus mainly on UI systems and content design. Jack first started trading cryptocurrencies back in 2016. After reading more about blockchain technology and the issues it could solve, like many of us, he fell down the rabbit hole, which fuelled his desire to work full-time in Web3.
Jack has a goal to solve what he believes to be a lack of creative vision in the Web3 industry. When he’s not creating beautifully designed graphics, you’ll usually catch him traveling across the world, mainly to sample the different beers.
